Exhibition: Triumph Pavilion 2020: ‘Discovery Pavilion’
Location: Museum Gardens, Cambridge Heath Road, Bethnal Green, London E2 9PA (next to the V&A Museum of Childhood)

THE CHALLENGE:
The challenge for the 2020 Triumph Pavilion is to explore the theme of “Discovery”. Hence the Pavilion will be entitled the “Discovery Pavilion”. It a theme that focuses on triggering an inquisitive mind and interaction from visitors to find out more, learn why and how, detect new ways to see, reveal and disclose elements of the concept, form and material in relation to space.
The structure should engage and require visitors to participant in the processes of discovery:
· Interrogation – asking questions
· Disclosure – request certain actions from participants to get a response.
· Confirmation – confirm facts of the concept and satisfy visitor’s curiosity.
Through this process of engagement and discovery, the visitor should become aware of something special about the architecture, aspects of the gardens that they previously had not noticed but now revealed to them through the Pavilion.
The architect or design team to be granted the honour of designing the 2020 Triumph Pavilion will be selected through a deliberation process by an internal selection panel. The winning design proposal will be one that is perceived to most satisfy the brief, budget and is befitting of the Museum Gardens.
The design of the Pavilion should be inclusive, highlight and encourage the need for ecological and sustainable design principles where possible.
ELIGIBILITY:
Architects, Architecture graduates, Architecture students, Team of architects, Interdisciplinary teams (engineers, designers, urbanist, artist, landscape architects in-conjunction with an architect).
RESTRICTION:
Participants must be aged between 18 or over on date of registration for this competition.
