Position we wish to occupy:
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Quantity Surveyor to join our team. The ideal candidate will lead the Quantity surveying for our projects, Cost Management and Procurement Processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cost Management: Accurately estimate quantities, materials, and costs of each element needed for the project.
- Procurement Leadership: Source and negotiate prices with suppliers across Portugal, Spain and anywhere else to secure the best costs for building materials, finishes, and other elements needed.
- Supplier Relationships: Maintain and expand a strong network of suppliers and manufacturers.
- Tender & Contract Management: Prepare tender documents, analyse supplier proposals, and assist with contract negotiations.
- Project Oversight: support site Director in project budget, forecast cost, contingency, and identify and mitigate potential financial risks.
- Documentation: Produce detailed reports, Map of quantities (MoQ), and financial statements.
Work Culture and Organisational Structure:
Collaborate with project managers, architects, and clients to ensure clear communication and project alignment. Report to Site Director.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in quantity surveying in renovation / construction.
- Languages: Portuguese and English, with excellent writing and communication skills on both languages.
- Negotiation Skills: Strong ability to negotiate over the phone, via email, and in-person.
- Supplier Market Expertise: Established connections in the Portuguese and Spanish supplier markets, with proven experience obtaining competitive quotations and leading procurement.
- Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with cost management tools and software. Team Player: Strong organizational and interpersonal skills to work effectively in a dynamic team environment.
