Marassi Villas B

PT – Marassi Villas B, foi a proposta do Studio Toggle para um concurso conduzido pela Emaar, uma empresa imobiliária multinacional com o propósito de criar um complexo residencial de luxo à beira-mar em Marassi, Egito.

O centro habitacional, é uma interpretação contemporânea dos princípios arquitetônicos Islâmicos , e foi criado a partir de uma narrativa entre opostos, transições internas e externas, junção do denso e opaco, leve e pesado.

 

EN – Marassi Villas B is our proposal for an invited competition conducted by Emaar for the design of a high-end luxury seaside housing development in Marassi, Egypt.

 

The villa is a contemporary interpretation of the Islamic principles of architecture. The design strives to create a choreographed narrative between interior and exterior transitions by juxtaposing density with opacity, lightness with heft, all by utilizing the timeless nature of historic architectural elements.

 

Circulation from the upper volume steps down to the living room area that connects to the exterior deck and pool. A peripheral louvre inspired by the Islamic veil provides privacy and protection from the harsh sun. A traditional windcatcher is used for passive ventilation. The veil adapts to the terrain and becomes part of the aesthetic.
