Sofia Student Studios

No arranque de 2020 concluímos outro projecto de Arquitectura e Interiores. Sofia Student Studios é uma proposta de reabilitação para trazer uma vida nova a um edíficio histórico.

O conceito “home away from home” combina alguns dos traços originais com novas características minimalistas que conferem à residência de estudantes um ambiente caloroso e confortável num espaço moderno. Dada a sua localização em Coimbra, foi importante aplicar alguns detalhes alusivos à cultura Portuguesa. Os mosaicos contemporâneos com temas geométricos e a escolha de cores e materiais reflecte isso mesmo, resultando numa abordagem actual a um estilo clássico e retro. Tivemos em consideração que a utilização sazonal será destinada a jovens adultos, e por isso todas as superfícies de toque são fáceis de limpar e contemplámos bastante espaço de arrumos para estúdios de pequenas dimensões. A casa de banho tem um iluminação com efeito zenital que replica luz natural e combina com a cúpula original do edíficio no cimo escadas.

To kick-off 2020 we’ve concluded another Architectural and Interior project. Sofia Student Studios is a rehabilitation proposal to bring new life into an old building.

The “home away from home” concept combines some of the original interior trademarks with new minimalist features that brings the student residents a warm and cosy feeling within a modern environment. Given its location in Coimbra, it was also important to apply discreetly some of Portugal’s culture into the details. The contemporary geometrical tiles and the choice of colors and materials translate just that, resulting in a modern approach of a retro/classic look. Our internal team of Designers, Architects and 3D Artists joined forces and combined their technical and creative know-how into this project. We’ve kept in mind that the spaces will be used seasonally by young adults, and therefore all the touch surfaces are easy to clean and it packs lots of storage space for a small studio. The bathroom has a zenithal light effect that mimics natural light and matches the original skylight in the building main staircase.
